Welcome to Troop 657, Cypress CA

Troop 657 was established in 2005 and continues to actively serve the youth of the Orange Frontier District. We are about 60 boys strong and have an active program of meetings, outings, fundraisers, service projects, and summer camp. We’re chartered and sponsored by Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4321 Cerritos Ave., Cypress CA.

Our Troop meets weekly on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Please contact us if you’d like more information or are just interested in Boy Scouts. scoutmaster@Troop657.org

Scouting for Food – October 24

Troop 657 is participating in the Scouting for Food drive this year, and we need your help. Please consider donating at least a few items between now and October 24. Just bring them to a regular Troop meeting or to Court of Honor on October 17. Cooper R. will be collecting items each week. All donations will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank which feeds families in need throughout Orange County. Scan your cupboards for unused canned goods or pick up a few extras on your next shopping trip. It’s an easy way to do a good turn.

  • Canned food
  • Cereal
  • Pasta
  • Peanut butter
  • Juice
  • Other nonperishable items

Haunted High – September through November

It’s back! The Holy Cross Haunted High is now an annual tradition. Come and help create a frightening high school experience with a full walk-through maze–complete with horrifying zombies. Scouts will help design, build, and decorate the entire event. Then dress up as zombies to assist visitors who dare to attend. Please see the Troop email for specifics regarding workdays and requirements. Donations and adult help are also needed. This is a big fundraiser for the church, and all Scouts who participate will earn service hours for their help. Parents, please consider helping too–especially on the nights of the event. If this year is like the ones in the past, it’ll be a real scream for everyone.

  • October 2, October 9 – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • October 16 – 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. (Dress Rehearsal)*

*(Permission slips due)

Haunted High Performance Nights:

  • October 21, 22, 28, 29, and 31 – 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Call time for zombies is 4:00 p.m.)

Donations Needed – September 5

In conjunction with our local Order of the Arrow lodge, our Troop is collecting small hygiene products to be delivered to the victims of the recent flooding in Louisiana. If you are able, please consider purchasing any number of  needed items to be assembled into kits by the OA members:

  • 1 gallon zip lock bags
  • Small soap bars or body wash
  • Toothbrushes
  • Floss
  • Wash cloths (no towels)
  • Small bottles of shampoo/conditioner
  • Combs
  • Disposable razors
  • Small packages of wipes

The items can be placed in the box at the Randig’s home by September 5. Please see the Troop email for their address. This is a great way to be of service and to contribute to the wellbeing of our nation’s citizens.

Court of Honor – October 17

Our fall Court of Honor (COH) will be held in lieu of our regular Troop meeting on Monday, October 17. If you are hoping to finish a rank advancement in time for this COH, be sure to see the deadlines listed in the Troop email. Scoutmaster Conferences (SMCs) and Boards of Review (BORs) need to be set up ahead of time. Remember, it’s the Scout’s responsibility to make appointments with leaders. Good luck and congratulations to all the boys on their fantastic achievements!
