Costa Mesa Foraging Hike, April 2021

This past Saturday morning Troop 657 scouts met with Dawn, a local forager. She introduced the scouts to several native plants that grow in the area which included pineapple weed, stinging nettle, fennel, sage, and mustard leaves. With the plants they picked along the hike, our scouts helped prepare a delicious meal that included apples with a sprinkle of sage, orange slices with fennel, a sour cream dip with mustard leaves, pesto dip with stinging nettle, rice wrapped with mustard leaves, a tea of pineapple weed. This was such a treat and this extra bit of knowledge will help these scouts forage for food in the wild. Thank you Dawn!
